Hello!
I’m John Haravey, a multifaceted professional in Information Technology, Computer Science, and iOS software development, with a passion for continuous learning and technological innovation.
I have the great pleasure of being Alex‘s husband, and father to our wonderful cat Misty.
My career began in the realm of IT and computer science, where I developed an understanding of technology’s transformative role in the workplace. This foundation was instrumental in honing my skills for creating minimalist, functional environments and intuitive user interfaces.
A significant chapter in my professional journey unfolded at First Orion, a telecom company. Here, I had the distinct honor of establishing the iOS team, developing the company’s first production app. This role was not just a technical achievement but also a testament to my leadership and vision in pioneering new directions for the company.
Following my tenure at First Orion, I joined Apple, spending 6 years deepening my expertise in Apple platform software development. At Apple, I delved into the nuances of collaborative software engineering, focusing on consensus building among engineers and effective code sharing practices.
Outside the world of technology, I have a profound love for music, particularly playing the violin, viola, and piano. The viola holds a special place in my heart for its elegant and soothing register, which I find immensely fulfilling. This musical journey complements my professional life, providing a harmonious balance and a unique perspective on creativity.
In addition to music, I maintain an active lifestyle with interests in basketball and historical martial arts, such as German longsword. These activities keep me grounded and energized, offering a refreshing counterbalance to my technological pursuits.
As I look to the future, I remain committed to innovation, learning, and collaboration in the ever-evolving tech landscape, excited about the new challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
I am always amazed by the depth of passion for nearly every subject of human study, and I have found myself particularly engaged by quantum physics recently. If you run into me on the street, say hello and introduce me to something wonderful about your passion!
